Frequently Asked Questions About AEIS Tuition
What subjects does my child need to prepare for the AEIS?
The AEIS assesses English and Mathematics at both the primary and secondary levels. Students are expected to demonstrate strong comprehension, writing, and problem-solving skills under timed conditions. Families seeking structured private tutoring in Singapore often focus on strengthening these two core subjects before the examination period begins.
How do I find a reliable tutor for AEIS preparation?
A suitable AEIS tutor should be familiar with the exam format, syllabus expectations, and common challenges faced by international students entering local schools. Many parents use tutor-matching services that specialise in identifying tutors experienced in AEIS preparation and academic transition support.
How much does AEIS tuition cost in Singapore?
Costs vary depending on the tutor’s experience, academic level, and lesson frequency. Families comparing private tutoring prices should also consider factors such as subject specialisation, exam familiarity, and whether lessons are conducted one-to-one at home.
My child is weak in Maths. Can a tutor help them prepare for AEIS in time?
Yes. AEIS Mathematics requires a strong foundational understanding and consistent practice. Working with a dedicated mathematics home tutor can help students systematically close learning gaps while improving confidence in tackling problem-solving questions within a fixed preparation timeline.
My child struggles with English comprehension and writing. Where do I start?
English comprehension and written expression are heavily assessed in the AEIS. Structured English tuition in Singapore helps students progressively strengthen vocabulary, reading comprehension, grammar, and composition skills, rather than relying solely on repeated practice papers.
Is AEIS Science tested at the primary level?
Science is not tested for primary-level AEIS entry, but it becomes relevant for students preparing for secondary school placement. Early support from a science private tutor can help students strengthen foundational concepts and adjust more smoothly to Singapore’s curriculum expectations.
My child is entering primary school. What level should we prepare for?
Preparation depends on the child’s age, prior schooling background, and intended entry level. Many families begin by consulting a primary school tutor to assess foundational literacy and numeracy skills before building a suitable preparation plan.
My child is entering secondary school. How is the AEIS different at that level?
The secondary-level AEIS is generally more demanding, with higher expectations in comprehension, mathematical reasoning, and independent problem-solving. Preparation often involves more structured academic support tailored to tuition for secondary students entering Secondary 1 or Secondary 2.
Can AEIS preparation overlap with PSLE Mathematics topics?
Yes. There is considerable overlap between upper primary Mathematics topics and the AEIS Mathematics syllabus. Students preparing for the PSLE through PSLE Mathematics tuition often develop the same core problem-solving and application skills tested in the primary AEIS examination.
Is PSLE Science content relevant for AEIS preparation?
For students preparing for secondary school entry, upper primary Science concepts can provide useful foundational knowledge. PSLE Science tuition may help students strengthen scientific reasoning and understanding before transitioning into secondary-level Science learning in Singapore schools.
